Home Permanent Muscle?

What is Permanent Muscle?

Let me tell you a couple things you might not know about me...

In February 2009 after working for several years as a strength coach and personal trainer throughout the US, Europe and the UK I returned back to my native Australia to put a complete halt on my business.

What was I thinking?

Well this decision may seem like a tough one to make but for me it was as simple as brushing ya teeth every morning!

You see, it's this website your on right now and more importantly the people that use, that gave me the inspiration to pack up my successful career to create an complete online training program that builds real muscle on real people, real fast.

And this is what I've been doing for 11 hours of everyday (except for Sundays!) for the last 12 months.

Finally, after wearing out the paint on this laptops keyboard, my training program is complete.

Its been named Permanent Muscle!

It's 789 pages, 'full to the brim' with;

  • A complete 28 week. 3 phase custom workout program
  • Professional database consisting of over 200 of only the best exercises in existance
  • A fully automated meal plan generator
  • Complete protein, carbohydrate and healthy fat charts
  • My one of a kind goals creation tool; C.R.E.A.P.A
  • The real truth behind 12 of the worlds most popular supplement types
  • How to harness your almighty hormones
  • A complete muscle building nutrition course

And the list goes on...

So why am I telling you this?

Well as you already know, I'll do everything in my power to help someone out.

So now that the Permanent Muscle program is about to be released, if you're a subscriber to this site, I am giving away 200 copies for a greatly reduced price.

I want these copy's to go to the people who most deserve them;

People that want to get ripped, stronger and more athletic
People who want more confidence and are fed up with the way they look and feel
People who are truly prepared to make some massive improvements in their lives

Q) Will this actually work for me?

If my videos, workouts, emails, nutritional plans and website havn't proved that already, just have a look at some of the comments Permanent Muscle recieved during its official trial.

Mark Wagner

Hi Reuben,
I appreciate your personalized e mails. I have printed them all out and I tomorrow Monday Feb 8th I am starting on this Journey to get my body back in shape. After packing almost 200 pounds at only 5'9 tall I realized I hit bottom. Tomorrow is a new day I am only 39 years old and I still can do this. I will be using all your advises, tips and suggestions and I will record videos and pictures to document the progress I make . Once again thanks for making me believe I can do this. Hi Reuben!
Thanks for all great emails that you have been sending me. They have helped me greatly in many different areas. For the latest one dealing with emotions, I think it is very important to stay in the "now" and not think about work while you are pushing X amount of weight. I think that would help benefit a lot of people, but I also totally agree with you that having a postive mind set towards a goal will only help you reach the goal.
As for the book something I would like to see is nutrious delicious foods that are quick and easy to make. Pre/post workout foods.Your thoughts on supplementation.and your thoughts on hypertrophy training vs power training vs strength training. I would like to know what is the best thing I could do to make myself a bigger frame.
I would also like to know how much of a persons size is genetics and how much is eating right or training properly. I always see those huge guys at the gym lift heavy weights but do not do the full range of motion (any thoughts?) and do it for one or 2 reps max? What are your thoughts about stretching (warm up/cool down)? is it really that necessary and how much should I be doing?
Anyways great site, gave me some really good ideas to add into my workout plan.
A.L.

Hi Reuben,

First off thanks for the awesome site; it's been a great help in giving me a good place to start.

What I'd like to see are specific training programs listing specific exercises to do on certain days. Maybe programs for different levels (beginner, intermediate, advanced, etc) so that as I progress I have a list of exercises to work in to my routine.

Hi Reuben! This is my first comment here.

I think the site is awesome, mainly because it´s more reliable than 90% of the other bodybuilding webpages.
If you want some advice, I think you could promote your webpage in many better ways. You could open a facebook and twitter account and link them, so taht people could suscribe to your channel. That way, you would advertise your webpage much better and would be able to make people who already know it to return.

I hope this piece of advice can help you win more adepts to buildinmuscleworldwide.

Hi Rueben

What about a quick start chapter at the begining, i.e. core stability training, of the book for the beginners. So while they can start their training as soon as possible while simultaniously they could read the rest of the book to plan the main phase workout?

Great website dude and i cant wait to get your book.

Darius.

Dear Reuben,
It would be appreciated if you would analyze your thoughts during training, you know....during these raw sets and reps what do you think off??where your imagination is ''traveling''....?And also your diet principles..Because of busy every day program conditions I would like to see a fully analyzed plan of your bulk diet and cutting diet...kinds of beefs,fishes,rices..how can put oatmeal during the day and not only in the morning???And other things like that.

Looking forward to hearing from you my friend,
With respect,Nikos

I would like to see workout plans with the best exercises for each body part. And If possible, I would like to see some pictures or videos on how to do the exercise in perfect form. And other photos of before and after of people who trained with you, so that we can have more hope.

Maybe more tips and advice and definetly something to motivate people to actually continuing to workout rather than stopping halfway.

Hey mate,

"A picture paints a thousand words" BUT i also reckon "a video paints a thousand pictures".

Strange philosophy-- but you get my drift; Have indepth detailed exercises using plenty of videos/pics to show optimal form -go heavy on the multi-media(The Vids you post on youtube are gold!)...
I think it'll save time & boost efficiency for you (having to explaining workouts) & us too (having to grasp new methods).

** Alternate exercises may be useful for those working-out @ home; or starting out.

Yo're an inspiration

I think that there should be a various amount of workouts to complete so that one does not reach a plateaau, also there should be a "workout planner", a goal setter, and videos and pictures explaning how to do certain workouts properly. Also the amount of reps/sets to do and what the set-rep ratio represent.

Thank you for your time.

well what i would like to know is is it true if the heavier you are then the more weight you can lift or more power you canput into a rugby tackle? because iam a rugby player also what food gives you a healthy gain in body weight not gaining weight from a crappy food e.g chocoloate. Thanks
Ben  - Hey, hey.   |2009-12-21 17:39:59
Hey Reuben.

I just started training through your email programs and I’m greatly enjoying the advice you’ve been giving to me.

As for the book I think there is a good number of things I’d like to see come from it. I’d love to see the different types of fat for one; I know there is trans fat, saturated fat and many others. I would personally enjoy seeing which ones are actually good for you and which ones do the most harm to your body.

Add a few good meal plans for people depending on what they’re shooting for; building muscle, toning and becoming lean or even just dropping weight in general. I think tons of people could benefit from that kind of advice, myself being one of them.

I think the biggest thing though would be a list of workouts and videos or pictures describing how to do them. I know there are TONS of different moves you can do during a workout however I’d love to see the right form behind them to get effective results. I would benefit greatly MYSELF and I’d imagine others would as well if you put a section of the book dedicated to this. Also you could bust some myths of working out, I noticed the emails you sent me deal with that a good bit so you could put that in your book however one question I have and maybe a myth to be answered is that three sets in a workout is the optimum amount of sets for building strength. As I told you in my emails I’m taking a police foundations fitness course and they believe that three sets is the most effective number, which being said I noticed your home workout routine suggests we do four sets. So I’m kind of curious as to what exactly is the best route to take? Maybe it depends on the person themselves or muscle group to how many sets is best. I’ll let you explain that though if you want.

This is just a few things I’d personally like to see.

You’ll have to tell me when this book hits the shelves! Can’t wait to see it in Canada, might have to preorder it! Haha.

Ben (Age 19) from Ontario Canada.
Ethan   |2009-12-20 07:54:16
Reuben, I'd like to see information about the different types of muscle fibers, how to target and stimulate them, their effects on performance and appearance, their effects on each other (if any), if you can develop more, and if you can get all types or, if you can only develop one predominant type, the best for specific sports.

Thanks Reuben,

Hi Rueben,

You asked to share some ideas for your book. I guess I'd like to see something really practical about the food. And more precisely, I mean this :
Basic information about nutrition + Recepies for each time of the day WITH EASY TO FIND PRODUCTS (i.e. : Breakfast = 2 bowls of oatmeal w/ skimmed milk or x slices of white or brown bread w/ xx. Post-workout : shake + other protein source or just shake if it's toot late in the evening.). The idea is to get some interchangeable easy to cook meals.

Anyway, congratulations for all you've done so far !

Thanks a lot. Thomas, Belgium.

Reuben,

When it comes to work out advice, you're my go to guy. The things that would interest me in your book would be your most effective training routines, the best foods for gaining lean muscle, and things you can do to speed up your recovery from workout to workout.
lukas weis  - Reccommendations for book/progress   |2009-12-08 13:31:54
Hi Reuben,
Using your training I have been able to add many new and excellent exercises into my routines. I have also learned a lot about things I had been doing wrong in my nutrition.
I think the book is a great idea, but that you may want to cover some new things that are not already posted on your website. One thing that I do not quite understand yet is; how to devote more intensity/effort to your weaker muscles while maintaining your strong muscles. (Ex: When you decided to improve your lower back strength, you must have still had to work out your other muscles. I was wondering how much exercise you need to maintain the muscles which you are not focusing on.

Thanks for everything - Lukas Weis
Daniel  - Hormones   |2009-12-08 09:50:42
One interesting thing you might mention is how to manipulate your hormones in various ways. From breathing squats to food choices( from what I hear certain foods promote an anabolic enviornment, like garlic, and some do the opposite, like soy). I'm sure there are other ways to subtly affect your hormone levels too.
Jordan  - Hybrid   |2009-12-06 21:57:24
I love the idea for the book, and I hope it comes along well.

I've followed all of your emails for the last couple of weeks, and really think you're on to something with the latest one about the mentality you have about yourself and working out. Definitely should be something about that in the book.

I also read into hybrid workouts and that kind of thing, and think that maybe there should be a small section, or a few pages describing what hybrid workouts are, how to do them, and how to fit them into your standard training split.

That's all I can really think of, because everything else is pretty much covered.

Mosh  - Vitamins   |2009-12-06 17:48:33
Vitamins are one area from the nutrition part of body building that i don't fully understand. I know that vitamins are important but thats about it. I was hoping you could explain what types of vitamins we should be looking for in a multivitamin pill and how much of each type of vitamin we should be trying to get per day. Also if its more important to intake some at certain times of the day for example like before or after a workout.

Thanks and hope this helps with your book
Niall  - Latest eMail   |2009-12-06 11:12:40

Hello Reuben,

I am 68 years of age and I have worked out all my adult life starting with wrestling and swimming in high school. I have worked out in weight training and body building for 45 years. I have always been a cross trainer participating in jogging, swimming and having become a Water Safety Instructor for the Red Cross and a Certified Scuba Diver and having worked on the Chicago Lake Front as a Lifeguard Captain for 15 years and supervised four major beaches. I am a roller skater, skier both snow and water, and work out in over all fitness. I ran and completed the Chicago Marathon at age 50. I have continued to study and upgrade my knowldege for 20 years as an annual subscriber to Muscle and Fitness Magazine. I originally wrote to you because I was losing muscle tone and added additional body fat. Your session #4 put me back in touch with the mental part of my program which I have allowed to be compromised. Thankyou for your wonderful insight and knowledge and I see now that it is my motivation that has become remiss. Your knowledge and insight are profound. I look forward to your book and you can count on my support.

Reuben has helped me a lot with my training, if it weren't for him, i would never have made it this far, many of the things i know has come through Reuben, either in a post or a personal email, and the best thing is, that it's all free!

Hey Reuben,

Glad to see there's a nice personal site out there for NATURAL bodybuilding like I'm currently into now. I'm 17 years old and a senior in high school. I started training last year in a "specialty sports" class where we had a little bit of weight training time and started to shape up. During the summer, however, I became more interested in bodybuilding, and could not settle for my lean, 145lb self anymore. Right now I weigh 157lbs and I've just started to bulk, taking in more calories and also cleaning up my diet. Unfortunately though, there are some roadblocks...

First, my high school weight training class only has about an hour and meets on an alternating schedule, so my training has to comply with that. My question for that would be how can I maximize the use of that time, while being able to isolate my pushes, pulls and legs like I feel I should be starting to do? And also I'm not sure what kind of supplements I should be taking, if any, other than protein.

As far as my body goes, I'm 157lbs, and I'm starting to build more serious mass, though I am still rather lean and working on building even more mass. My question here sort of relates to the above but what kind of routine should I be doing now that I am no longer a beginner and need something more than just the basics?

Finally, my dream physique would be me at 200lbs, with

Hey reub, one thing that i have noticed from your videos, posts, website is that you never quit, never give up, jsut keep on striving. Thats awesome! well done with the website and your body.

I think you have alot on workouts for each muscle group so maybe some detail on diet.?i have heard alot about nutrition being 50/50 in hand with actual training. no nutrition no muscle just as true as no workout no muscle. Maybe a meal plan or something i don't know ..

Keep up the good work buddy, hope you make a mint on your book!

Hey Reuben, I think one missed concept in getting fit is vitamins and herbs. It would be great if you could give people some insight on certain beneficial vitamins that help lose weight and/or gain muscle.
-props on the site, this is one of my main information sites to go to now.

Hey Rubes nice e-mails an site too..You have a good mental understanding when it comes to bodybuilding...But i wanted to tell you on what i think should be in your book:

-A detailed description on how to do particullar excercises.

-Also pictures for every step of the excercise(ex. lifting the weight, lowering the weight..)

-Which foods to eat for gaining muscle.

-Which excersises and foods work best for different types of people(ectomorphs,endomorphs,mesomorphs...)

That's it!Thank's Rubes and looking forward in hearing from ya...Best regards from Serbia!

The thing that makes many of people I've trained not achieve their goals is diet. The new fad diet seems to catch the attention of those looking for the quick fix. I think that providing somewhat comprehensive meal planning would be a great thing to offer your readers. Obviously they will have to be goal specific but you can't stress enough, especially to the newbies, how important their diet is.
Thanks for the support and best of luck with the book.

Rubes:

Your advice on effective exercise technique is some of the best that I have seen I hope you include plenty of those in your book.

Also, I wonder is it okay to continue to lift heavy while dieting and increasing aerobics to lose fat? Or is it best to cut back on heavy lifting when trying to lose fat?

Finally, I hope you can include a basic explanation of fat loss tips and techniques as well as good foods to eat when losing fat.
Daniel  - Injuries, techniques etc.   |2009-10-30 05:23:43
Howdy Rubes!

I would like to see a chapter in the book that focuses on the possibilities of getting injured from lifting weights. Because there's often people at my gym that have really bad technique and execution of their workout, also they have no knowledge about ROM, which i think is bad. So basicly I would like to see as many people do correct workouts and reduce the chances that they get injured. I know that many people want to grow as fast as possible and they start throwing up weights without knowledge of the consequences are. I just want everybody to succeed and to be fully functional the rest of their lives!

I would like to add that your doing a great job, so massive creds to you! Hoping to hear from you again soon!

Greetings from Sweden!

First of all, man, your site is awesome! I have found here all the correct techiques and exersies, as well as all the mistakes I was making... I have found nutrirional info, I have found support on staying natural, many many things, and I, as do all of the site viweres, really apreciate it a lot! as for your book, I think that it would be good to start off with the basics, since many newbies will be buying it, but quikly go on to the more intersting things that would really help out even the most profesional bodybuilder... that way it could have great diversity, therefore apropriate for all levels.... thanks again man... we all apreciate it, Ryan

I Think your doing a great job so far. I think you should put exercises for begginning of training, intertmediate, and advance. So some people can see the parts of muscles each work out does. And Explain how you have a passion for fitness soo other people understand what it is all about. I hate when you tell people you love the gym.. And they say your a "meat head" or "steroids"... Its not about that its the feel the love of being there and doing somthing for your self and helping other people excel at being a better and healthier person

hey man hows it going

what i wanna see in the book it really something on everything like how teenagers from 14- 18 should be handling workingout an all and the myths that lie behind sex and workingout. Also with how to build thicker bones if possible (mine are small) making adding muscle harder, but i dont use it as an excuse i think of myself as big right now i wanna get huge though i believe a respect for people that have gotten huge is shown through everyday life.

Thanks again Reubs!

Hey Reuben,

I just want to start off by saying how incredible your site is and the e-mails that keep coming and keep helping me day in and day out. I think one thing that would be really helpful to not only myself but others, would be not only a list of diets we should be following but also some foods that we may think are good for us but actually are a detriment. I know myself I am always focusing on what I can eat, what will help me, but I never stop to think of what foods I eat that I "think" are helping me but really aren't doing as much for me that something else could. I just want to say thanks again and can't wait for Permanent Muscle to come out.

Hi Rueben,
what i think would work out great is to upload videos of all the exercises to your website, and then refer to it, in your book.

You really helped me with your supersets, and now i just learned thanks to you, that exercise after a heavy night out can help the recovery, givin that you re-hydrate and get some good food in you before. Im loving this and cannot wait for that book =D

Thanks for everything so far!!
Julian  - Have a nice trip   |2009-10-03 19:56:05
Hi Reuben!!! Thanks for helping out the people looking for advice.

Recently I went to a trip that lasted like 2 weeks. I Went to a small city in wich the gym was also smaller and had less stuff than my common gym. It was not so easy for me to keep my exercise plan, neither my diet.

Now that I returned I´m restarting everything; it seems that I didn´t lose strenght, but I still feel that I´ll have two work at least an entire week to regain my previous level.

Finally, the question for you is: Could you give some advice to maintain strenght on trips and how to slightly modify the diet?

Thanks again Rubes... You are the number 1 fitness hero in the world.

-Foods to eat on pre- & post workouts for a certain goal or sport.

The reason i found this site is from your videos on youtube, and i followed your reference to the site on the video because it sounds like you know what you are talking about, and you put it into terms people can understand without making it stupid. in the book i think the best things to have would be workout routine models (much like some of the youtube videos) only more. and one thing i also find hardest to find instruction on is workout form, so i think that would be valuable to have detail on in the book.

Hey Ruben

Just wanted to post a note to say thank you for your advise and assistance. To find someone who is willing to share their experience and time for free, in an era when you have to part with cash just to take a piss in a public toilet is a rarity. Before emailing you I was training each body part once-a-week but hadn’t incorporated any rest days, after your response and indication that I was at risk of injury through over training, I have reduced my time in the gym to 5 days and have continued to make steady gains in strength and mass. Just to spice things up I have incorporated your chest routine as demonstrated on youtube, you are a savage individual, I’m still suffering with the DOMS three days latter “love it”. Thanks again for your guidance and website, I cant wait to get my hands on your book.

I have two problems to discuss Reuben. Here's the first one; in the beginning of the summer my abs were showing more than now, like I had the complete upper 2 abs. Now in the approach of my school year, the abs are barely showing. I don't understand why this is happening and what should I do about this problem?

My second problem is my arms even though their not weak, but at the same time their very small compared to my body. To others they may seem big I guess but since I know how big my arms can be and how big they should be to compared with the rest of my body...What exercise and workouts in your opinion would be best suited to workout my arms including these muscles: 1.The Biceps 2.The Triceps 3.The Forearms 4.The Entire Shoulder Region.

If you have any tips on my problem please get back to me as soon as possible so I can start on the training needed to look better physically.

Thankyou

I absolutely love your website! I am an 18 year old girl who trains in Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai. My friend introduced me to the world of Weight lifting, this year, and lets just say I am hooked! I found it harder to push my self in weight lifting than in martial arts tho. I felt some what intimidated being in a room full of 200 lbs men and here I am standing at barely 130 lbs. lol. When doing Weights I would always do the same old routine over and over again! Sometimes I would just stand there like deer in headlights not knowing what to do next, or make my walk of shame to the treadmill, because atleast when your on a treadmill you cant really screw that up. But who wants to do that for the rest of their life?! After watching your videos, I learned so much! I dont have to worry about being carried to the hospital in a stretcher after pulling a muscle anymore! I gained lots of confidence not to mention an amazing bodyy , my performance in fighting has increased dramatically too! So much for subscribing to fitness magazines! They just end up in the garbage anyways. Its good to know there are websites like yours that I can always count on :) Keep up the good work!! And thanks to you I get about 9430340 boys chasing me a day for my number now...haha I'm only kidding!( so much for being humble)lol

Okey I got a short and quick answer for you, what I would like you to put in that book. "Dietinformation". Almost everyone is lacking on that sort of information.

Hey Reuben,

I find it very noble of you putting all your work in helping people

What I really would like to see in your book is a part that explains how ectomorphs should train, beginner-intermediate-advanced bodybuilder

thnx

Thanks a lot for the site and the training lessons. Before I was never motivated and kind of a quitter. But now Im dedicated in my workout and im always wanting more, even when I feel like im going to die. Thanks and good luck with the book. I dont really have any specific things that I would like to see in the book. If it's coming from you, I know it'll have all the information I need.
Mario Minaya G.  - congrats !   |2009-08-18 17:30:09
well! im pretty anxious to the book to come out.

one of the thinks that i would like to see , is how to eliminate the flesh that stays after getting skinny and how to maintain this "good and positive mind" to let us stay working out . and about diet plans and everyday plans about what to eat and what no to.. the products of creatine and stuffs that u recommend .

thanks rubes for help and dedicate all ur time on us !
Aaron.A  - aspiring bodybuilder   |2009-08-18 14:12:07
Hey rubes great job man, love the web site, thanks for all the great advice. I would really like for you to make instructional videos about strength training as well as how to add size, And also i'm 6'0 tall and i was wondering what weight would i have to be at to have 18 inch biceps or "arms"?
Alex  - book suggestion   |2009-08-15 18:26:44
Most websites have lots of information on building muscle for beginners but never mention anything specific about what actual bodybuilders do. I would love to see more about advanced programs for people looking to do contests. Pre-contest dieting, cardio and workout plans are what I am most interested in.
Daniel  - For the book   |2009-08-08 04:33:58
Hey Reuben, good work with the site,

i read a few of the comments and think that the paper copy with a pin in it would be a really good idea too.

Perhaps you could discuss buying supplements for beginners weight gainers protein creatine, as part of the nutrition plans.

Someone mentioned before discussing how to avoid soft tissue injuries or joint damage, i have never seen this in any book and think it would make a great addition.

Thanks for your hard work.
Catalin  - Keep up the good work!!   |2009-08-07 14:53:00
Hi Reuben,
Many thanks for all this great materials. I think that in ur book should be a chapter about begining training after a period of illness, how to protect the whrists and some introduction in muscle anatomy and how the muscle reacts in training periods and in break/illness periods.

Best regards from Bucharest, Romania.
Sid  - healthy joints and soft tissue....   |2009-08-04 09:13:46
Hey Reuben, I have to commend you on your site - high quality info from someone who genuinely seems to want to help. Your the man!!

In addition to the other comments, I would personally like to see a section in your book devoted to maintaining healthy joints and soft tissue while trying to build strength and muscle. Injuries can be a major barrier to achieving great results so it would be awesome if you could share your words of wisdom on prevention (warm ups, soft tissue exercises, tips when lifting) as this is lacking in many programs.

Thanks again, and keep up the amazing work man!!!
Matt  - The Book !   |2009-08-03 21:33:24

Sean  - Great Motivation   |2009-08-03 11:40:19
Really motivational stuff!!! I think you're on the right track with your book. Meal plans and weekly workout routines will probably attract the attention of many who want to improve their bodies. I appreciate all of the info, thanks a ton.
Darrell  - The Plan   |2009-07-29 11:34:44
First off let me say thank you!!!!
You are right there are a bunch of ppl out there that seem like they really want to help you then they hit you up for$$$ or tell you to try some supplement that others have said DO NOT WORK! You on the other hand seem to really want to help ppl and so far I have seen some great advise.
I have even had some other sites put my e-mail out there for sale even though they say they don't spam (losers)
I am 45 years young and have been working out for a cpl of months when I found your site I deleted the others =).
I would like to see a full work out plan for guys my age including a diet plan to lose weight and pack on muscle.
I am a little overweight but have been losing. I have a diet plan a BB Pro buddy gave me that I would love for you to review, I also have a workout plan called beginning body building I can show you to get your advise.
As far as the mental aspect I think it would be great to have in there as well.
As far as making a hard copy I look at it like this you give away a lot of free stuff so if you make an electronic copy and I want to read it some where else I can always print it.
Electronic would be the way to save yourself money with very little overhead other than your valuable time and knowledge. So do what is best for you and I will keep my printer ready.
Once again thanks for all the help and motivation you are great!
Sascha  - what about germany?   |2009-07-27 14:54:22
Hi again. Is there a way to get your book from germany when its published? i dont want to place an order for your book via internet (unless its a german, austrian or swiss website).

What i want to see in your book is something like a chapter called " One usual week in my life " ,where we can read what you are doing the whole day including training routines as well and so on.

thanks for the great effort you're making.

Alex   |2009-07-27 10:26:10
I think the people who commented above cover everything but I would rather see a real paper book. Then I can take it to the gym or read it where ever I am. You could give a pin number in the book that ppl can use online to access ur videos. Or u can have a online and paper book. You would probably make more money with a paper book and I'd rather have one. Whatever you do I will support u. Thanks for the help man. U r awesome.

Nick   |2009-07-26 05:14:07
Hi Reuben,

The most important thing you should cover in your book is the psychological aspect, which you foreshadowed in the e-mail training. That is very important to find a way to motivate body builders, especially beginners, to go on with their decisions and goals. The weakest part of most people's body is the mind, which creates psychological barriers leading to the fiasco.
The works out techniques are obviously very effective, if not the best, and for those who use your techniques the results are really inspiring.

Keep up in the same way you do brother, your success is guaranteed!
Daniel Cojocari   |2009-07-22 11:48:32
Hi,

I think that the most important thing you should add to your book is nutrition plan. If I were to buy your book I would like it to show me what to eat every day. I would want you to show how to prepare it.

P.S you sent me some helpful e-maiils, especially the e-mail about your mind. Thanks ill try to work on that, there were many times when i almost quit, but thanks to you i ppush myself harder.

P.P.S you are my inspiration!
Abraham  - Nutrition   |2009-07-21 22:45:07
Hello Reuben

First of all I have seen your video "Bicep Workout The Peak Seeker", I would really like to know what mix of the song Infinity you used lol

Going back to the topic, by far the most important and hardest thing to change to be able to achieve your body goals is the nutrition. The problem is that I know what to eat and what to avoid, but I don't know exactly how much of each food should I eat in each meal.

For example some websites give you complete meals, but they use measurements that I don't have any idea to what is equivalent in real life, like saying 5oz of chicken breast or 1 tbspoon of olive oil or 45gr of protein; dude how I am supposed to be able to count all this?? Is there an easier way to be able to count this without having a calculator in each meal?!!

Thanks Reuben :p
Btw I have seen great results with your bicep workout.
Nick  - great job   |2009-07-21 16:43:21
Hey Reuben, I am really impressed by your web site, a lot of information and what's more important necessary information, not the crap that "personal instructors" talk about, in fact they need instructions themselves. It is a great job, you are doing here, and I would strongly suggest you to open a foundation on your name, if you do not have one, and enlarge your activity. I am sure you will get a huge support from your readers, and ones someone visits your site, he will absolutely come back that's for sure.

Great job man, thank you!!
Kenson  - You gave me new hope.   |2009-07-21 09:16:15
Yo Reuben, it's so awesome that I had the honor to get to know your website through the YouTube bicep video which you made. Man! I am so glad that I have finally found someone that's sincere & have that much passion to respond to anyone that's keen on fitness. Cheers to u man!

Anyway, what I really would like to see in your book is a way to build muscles(using just body weight) without having to go to a gym. As I travel most of the time for business, there isn't a gym in some places, and I end up having to do some push-ups etc. In my room. I can think of some great exercises for the upper body, but as for my legs, I am clueless. Would really appreciate if you consider this suggestion.

Ben  - Whats up man   |2009-07-18 20:24:30
When I browse online or in certain books there is specific information I am searching for, but most of the time I can not find it. Here is a list of things I would love to see in a book that I can easily refer to for information.

I'll begin with the obvious.

**Numerous different exercises with information and pictures to help with perfect form

**Target rep range and set range for specific bodybuilding goals

**Up to three example workouts for each specific muscle groups. I know some ppl need help creating a solid workout, ie: exercises, number of exercises to include in workout, etc.

**How often to include supersets in a workout

**And then obviously pretty much everything you have up on your website.

I just found your website about a week ago. I've lost my motivation to lift over the course of the past few months. I've been doing it on and off, here and there. But since I found this site I have gotten my motivation back and have tried new things and am more eager than ever to get the physique I know I can get. Thanks for posting your no bull shit information up for every one to see.

-Ben from California. 21 years old.
John  - definately do it!   |2009-07-17 09:25:56
A workout + meal plan would be great.
Another good thing would be to talk about the ways to get the very best out of a workout. Please tell us what you did in the past for great workouts. Add in the mental side of muscle building too.
Cant wait to see it
John
Aurelian  - well   |2009-07-16 05:19:12
U explain very good every method..but i find it important that u fill u'r book with many training methods and many sorts of diet foods...it would be helpfull not to prepare food in grams and other kind of separation..it takes to many time to prepare food like that
Jack  - Realistic Meal plan   |2009-07-15 16:41:58
In your book it would be great if you could put in a realistic meal plan which the average person could meet. After looking at some meal plans they are very strict and need exact foods which cant be bought in a normal supermarket.

Thanks, Jack
tom  - hardest thing for me   |2009-07-11 21:04:40
As a teen, the hardest thing for me is controlling the foods i eat. I have little control over what i eat and sometimes end up eating fast food or other greasy, fatty foods that i honestly don't enjoy. What would help the most, for me, would be a meal plan that is very flexible. It is impossible for me to eat chicken and fish everyday with proper veggies and fruits etc. What i would really like is a meal plan in which the "ok" foods are mentioned and the plan isn't strict but still effective. If I am out with my friends and must choose what to eat at a pizzeria, I want to know the best choice. I want to know the foods i should never eat under any circumstances.

Thanks! --tom

Corey   |2009-07-10 17:57:44
Reuben I feel that the best part about your training is the explanation of why to do each thing you recommend. Nobody gets a great body by being ignorant, stupid, or by accident. Many sites just say "bench like this its the best." Not know why or really understanding leaves you back where you started. Its jsut a waste of time. I hope to see your book written just like your emails and web pages with reasons behind everything and packed with real true and tested knowledge.
Kris  - Advice for the book   |2009-07-09 09:59:53
Mister R! Being a brand builder / marketeer for the last 5 years (internet business and now a big FMCG multinational) some general advice:

1) Paper VS Internet
Although your site is great, the aim should be not to create an online book, but to create a real paper book (linked to maybe the website for some videos). Market research shows that text on paper is far more effective and appealing than an internet book. You already have your site, use it to create a fan base for what you do, and than translate it to a book on paper

2) Target audience
Who is your target group? Professional body builders that want more, amateur weight lifters, men, women, or everybody that want to become more muscled / lean / ... ???

It will be key for the content of the book, the tone of voice, the word structure and the level of difficulty. Don't forget that the "female target group" is the biggest, that they are more open to health / body advice and that they are a growing business in fitness marketing terms.

As "muscle" is more associated with men, and you don't want to put women off, carefully select the cover image and maybe you can do two specific chapters: One with some extra information for "MEN ONLY" and one with extra information for "WOMEN ONLY"

3) Title of the book
"Permanent Muscles" sound really good (maybe add a more subtle feminine subtitle if your are looking for a better "business model that has to generate money"

If you want to change a title, stay away from hyped messages such as "the only thing that works" / "Your workout guru" / "the only thing you need to know" etc. By going that direction, you ruin your overall message, and you will be considered as yet another guy that thinks he invented the wheel

4) Vitality and Overall fitness - Preventive HealthCare
If you look at consumer / population trends for the coming year, there is one key word "VITALITY" ... it will be the vital people that win. Vitality covers a lot of things, and should be the central thing in your message: the combination of BODY + MIND = A LIFE FULL VITALITY

Another big topic for the coming years will be "preventive medicine" ... as the healthcare system is very expensive worldwide, there will be a focus on "preventive actions" ... muscle building / gym / physical activity is the key word when it comes to preventing age related degeneration etc. Stress this in your message

5) Your book / Message

- Never say you are the only one that has the only solution / answer to muscle growth / a healthy mind and body, but start by explaining that you have the experience, that you want to share what worked for you.

- In your first mail, you asked for misunderstandings, I thought that was really clever. Use the answers you get as an intro for the book. And comment on the misunderstandings

- Workouts, routines and meal plans are of course crucial, but please, "stay in reality" ... most people that read your book have busy jobs, friends, family, muscle building is a priority as well, but I'm like working 12-14 hours a day, if you then tell me I have to get up an hour earlier to prepare all my meals, and that it's all in the mind, then I'll think "mister, easy for you to say if this is the only thing you have to do

- A chapter on "how to set goals" / "how to measure progress" would be really great. Also talk about realistic timeframes to achieve the desired results

- Starting the book with some self evaluation tests would be great as well (like the push up test)

- I agree with somebody here, that you should have a test panel of like 10 different people that follow your "way of thinking" ... then you do a "before" and "after" and most important: let the people describe where it went wrong (we can learn most from mistakes). Choose people that are different enough (young / skinny / old / fat / men / women / ...)

- I think the easiest thing is to have your intro chapters with "yourself" / "goal setting" / "body-mind relation" / "Food Advice" / ... and then specific chapters on the different muscles.

After that you have "umbrella chapters": how to set up your own diet (so what are basic rules, how much calories do you need, how do you spread your intake over proteins, carbs, fats etc), how to create your own work out ...

A good thing in marketing terms is to work with color codings. e.g. if you describe chest exercises, the big ex are green, ex for more definition are orange and ex. for specific goals are red ... when you then let people create their own work out you can just say: choose 2 green exercises for chest, 2 orange ones and 1 red one. In that way you help people think their workout through and you involve them as well (involvement = very important if you want people to stick to something)

- Finally give your view on some major gym questions:

> cardio: yes or no / before or after workout
> what muscle groups to combine

And once again: even dedicated, disciplined people can not go 200% for the things you will write (as said: we are working class people, don't have the time nor the money to spend all day on food preparation, gym, personal trainers etc). That is daily reality. But it are those people that will read your book and that want to see results ...

Mate, this was more than the 2 minutes you've asked for. If something is not clear, you have my mail address !

Looking forward to your next newsletter !

Hey Rubes

The book I would want to read is a step-by-step guide on how to get the best body as fast as possible with your expert advice.

Muscle gaining workouts, schedules, tips, do's and don'ts... Everything written out so we can just follow your great advice. Your personal experience in workouts, which workouts you used, the supplements and diets you recommend and which ones you personally use. Explaining everything in the detail you usually do on your youtube video's! More video's like your youtube video's are a must, it will be the main reason I would purchase it. If your book is as well explained as your youtube video's it will be the best book around.

Just to re-iterate the key points:
- Your personal experience
- Step by step workout and schedule
- Supplements and diet plan
- Explain it in the detail you do in your youtube video's
- More video's like your youtube one's!

Maybe even consider making the entire book a video, haha. Just saying your video's are completely awesome. Thanks for them and the advice. Looking forward to this book.

I will be one of the first to get it!

Hey, man!

What I would really like to see is workouts and lifts that are simple but effective. I spent countless hours searching the web looking for the best muscle gaining workouts and all I ever came across were lifts that were complicated, and that were not very accessible to a regular bloke like me. So, again, I would really like to see simple workouts that allow you to gain muscle effectively.

Thanks

Hi,

You could contact a few members of your site and set give them a program to keep for x amount of weeks, then when you publish this program you will have the "average joe's" information available to use aswell as them being able to provide feed back and comments. Personally speaking if i say this done for all programs/ routines it cold act as that bit of extra motivation knowing that other ut there have tired it/ completed it and were willing/available to talk about it.

just an idea.

Iv been working out for quite a few months now and thanks to you iv seen big things. The only problem is iv been working out my chest for a long time and I still have this thin layer of fat over my pecks which no matter what I do I cant seem to get rid of it. This would be a great help to find out how to get rid of the little places fat builds up because they seem to be the hardest to get rid of.

I started training my biceps about 5 months ago, when i first started I could really feel the burn, I seen gains at the beginning and I was able to lift heavier weights but after a while I felt I hit a brick wall- having found this website I noticed my technique was wrong and I was not isolating the biceps, instead I was using my forearm flexors to twist the dumbbell in a 'curl'- I then started using your biceps exercise and I felt the burn right away, Two months later my arms have shot out and with all the info I found on your site I was able to sustain muscle growth as well as progress in training- Fantastic Website!

A idiots guide to supplements, breaking down all the information you get when purchasing or researching a supplement burns my head out. Anything that could make the process easy.

Brilliant work mate!

Posing, mate. How do I get my shoulder blades mobile enough for a good lat spread? And don't just say practice.
Cheers.

One thing I recall thinking when looking at the tutorials, was how it could be better to understand the technique if pictures accompanied them.

Hi Reuben I was looking for some more information on gaining lean muscle in my legs. I am currently 6 foot and about 175 pounds. I already have a pretty lean, muscular body but I feel like my lower body is unproportional (a little) to my upper body. Any tips or routines I should try?

Im still in school and ive been weight training for bout 2 years. this site has been helpfully for different exercise's to help me varry my plan up.

i am struggling with loseing weight around my stomach tho. I was just wondering if you could have a section showing me foods that would help speed up my metabolism and the best training methods for losing this puppy fat!
cheers
Chongyi  - Hey   |2009-05-19 05:04:11
Hey,

Agree with others that more videos need to go up. Real footage are a lot more motivating too.

Personally I'm looking to gain weight/muscle fast to maybe somewhat 5-10 kg over my ideal weight, then trim down. I train hard 3 times a week, eat a lot relatively healthy food+protein+pure carb but results are coming slow, probably 1kg of gain each a couple of months...

Regards,
Danny  - Shoulder WorkOut Video   |2009-05-19 00:06:57
yeah i agree, i love your site, but you could make it even better if you had more video workouts like your "test the chest" and how you explain the science behind bodybuilding.

if you could make one on shoulders that would be great.

Maybe a good Dieting plan or what to eat after workouts/before/in between to get the best results. would be good also (since i'm not very good with it.)

Reuben your site has helped me out so much. I really appreciate all that you hve done. I first encountered your site by looking at one of your vids on youtube so if you want to get the word our about yourself that would be a good place to start.

I used to be pretty small but then one day had a desire to start lifting and went to your site and i have made amazing strides, i really like it how your site is no BS and gets exactly to the point. The one thing i would like is i want to develop my chest more and shoulders so anything over that would be helpful. And more videos to explain some of your techniques because sometimes i am confused.

Anyway your best and keep this stuff coming

Hey Reuben,

My main goal right now is to lose fat and maintain the muscle mass that i am at and have that toned up body. Im playing baseball now, decided to stop playing football, so there is no need anymore the the extra weight to throw around. Since using your website and hitting the gym 5 to 6 days a week, i am getting close to my goals, but i am always looking for further information.

Also pictures or videos on how to do some of the excercises that you recomend on you site would be very helpful.

Again, thanks for all the information on your website, it has helped a great deal.

great and inspirational stuff. my questions would be based around nutrition. firstly an outline of when to eat during the day, times to eat before and after workouts, they types of protein (slow-release etc), and secondly on behalf of my friend, any nutritional advice for those who are lactose intolerant and caeliac...as this prohibits most protein supplements. cheers and long may your advice and enthusiasm for training continue

hi, i go on your site at least once a day. its become as natural to me as going on facebook or bebo.

im currently 17, and ive been lifing weights a few years. id enjoy information for younger people, like i understand that younger people could get away with eating more that older people in some cases. but i was to know, supplement wise and just how serious it should be taken at my age.

i enjoy the site, thanks for the emails
and goodluck with your book
FINCH  - Rest Periods   |2009-05-18 09:18:41
Reuben, Thank you again for your site. My question: My stamina within my training session is much better with longer rests than just a minute here and there. I'm able to keep better form, lift heavier and generally do better work by taking 5 minutes whenever I'm beat. Is there a huge detriment to 'killing' a little 'intensity', if the end result is better work? I've long been curious about this. Thanks!
Chris  - jacked and cut   |2009-05-18 09:05:29
Hey Reuben,
I love your site, it is awesome. I really enjoyed the videos becuase they showed you how to do the excercises.
I have been lifting for a few years now, kinda bullshit lifting, but i went hardcore June 08, and I have been lifting consistantly with a good diet since. In June I started out at 165 pounds at 6'4". Yea I know underweight. I am now at around 200, basically all muscle, but not under 10% for bfi.
Your site provided me with a great change for my workouts. I read muscle and fitness, and they have about 15 pages of workout stuff out of the 300 other pages of supplement adds. I like how when I go to ur site its like no bullshit, all about building muscle and achieving your goals.
My advice to you is/or what I would like to see is like instructional videos on complex excercises, or like good workout routines for building mass. It takes so much for me to get muslce i feel like. Also how to break a plateau, what is a good diet plan (and a diet plan w/o fish cuz i dont eat that)
Can you stay lean and still build mass in the summer? I like havin abs in the summer. anyways that be awesome Reuben.
I actually found out about ur site on you tube when i searched for a good chest workout. then i saw ur bi peak seaker one there too. If you ever wrotea book and it was published id def buy it. you have been an inspiration to me. Working out has become my life and also those quotes in ur vids are great. Thank Reuben for your time and concern!

oh ya PS my bicep peak got huge from your workout on you tube. every tree weeks i do that exact workout.
Derek Velez  - Gaining mass while building quality muscle   |2009-05-18 08:30:05
Hey Rueben i want to thank you for taking your time to send emails i appreciate it, thank you.
I have been working out for 6 months now. I went from 155-180 don't know how but I think its part muscle and some fat..etc. like you explained in your email about how you will gain some body fat through training. I am still pretty lean though not fat at all. I have been using AST's Max-OT heavy weight training which I love but it is very intense and heavy on the joints which is why I take a week off every 8 weeks. Also the workout hits bodyparts once a week since it is intense. It consists of a warmup with 4-6 reps HEAVY! only 1-3 sets per exersize. all together a workout would only last 30-40 minutes and consist of a maximum of 9 sets all together.
I would do Chest/triceps mondays, Tuesday Legs, Thursday Shoulders/bicep and forearms, Saturday Back and traps. Abs I would work at the end of every workout with situps and cable crunches. The workout is intense and I am sore for days but I grow, I would like a new workout to try for a while to give my body a different workout.
What I need now is advice or workout to keep the mass i gained and make some more quality muscle. I'm afraid of trying a new workout because im afraid ill lose what I gained. I weigh 180 lbs right now at 5'8 height and I am 19 years old. My diet consist of whey protein from whole foods, 4 healthy meals a day like fish and chicken and fruits/vegetables and for cardio i jog or ride my bike for half and hour in the park i hate cardio in the gym.
I know you're really busy Reuben and would enjoy feedback as you have been. I just would like any ideas for a workout to build quality muscle and mass. Best of Luck with your website and life Rueben!

Greetings Reuben,

Where would the know-nothing, overwhelmed, scared, infant-staged beginner go; influencing a person to start making the correct, life changing success choices? Your info is inspiring, but, to those who are all-ready in motion. I would like to see a "baby" section, almost ridiculous in format; I feel that a lot of people might be able to stick it out and actually personally see success with their workouts and life. I would love to chat more about this, if you would like.

Hi Reuben,
thanks for everything so far.
I think your site is great, I know where to find things and I can extend my knowledge.
But, while reading the other comments I recognize (like it is usual) that for most of the people the basics are still not clear. Or at least some.
you already have listed the basics but if I were you I would summarize them. Most people are lazy....they do not want to read on for severel pages ;).

I would also like to see new pictures and videos...that´s all right now.
Keep up the good work...it ´s nice to see that you take great effort to help others =).

Hey, great site.
I really appreciate all the work you put in.

Well if I look at all these comments, most of my ideas are allready mentioned.
Maybe you could add some trainings for people who use a home gym like me. I mean you can do most excercices if you got a decent home gym but not many people have a legpress machine I think :D
Or add some alternatives for these excercises.

I'm sure you get the point ;)

Goodluck with your book, will be looking forward to it.

Greetz from Belgium!

I've been training for about 3 years now but only seriosly got into bodybuilding a year ago when I started to sort my diet out and take supplements also. My knowledge has vastly improved over the past 12 months and I have had a massive gain of muscle and weight. Have you any tips on how to increase the amount of weight I gain?.. Also I am 5ft11 and weighing about 84 pounds...

Hey Rueben.

Ive been training on and off for yrs now, at times with v good results but like a lot of guys I let social/work commitments get in the way. im 182 cm and weight 88 kgs, ive gradually put on good size but now apporaching 30, my metabolism isnt quite as good as it once was. I love the feeling i get from doing a good hard weights session but as im tryin to loose the last 5/10 lbs to get that shredded look, i need to devote a lot of nrg to my cardio now. What would b the best balance to loose the last few 5/10 lbs but also to keep adding muscle (ive bn doing a 3/2 2/3 split between weights/cardio).

cheers
